Vu Hung is an elementary school teacher in Ha Tay. Mr. Vu was arrested on April 18, 2007, for distributing literature on democracy and detained for nine days. Following the arrest he received several warnings and harassment from his employer. On April 29, 2008, he traveled to Hanoi to participate in peaceful demonstration against China and was arrested along with fellow democracy activist Nguyen Xuan Nghia. Enduring police brutality during the arrest, he suffered wounds, to his face and body.
On September 18, 2008 Vu Hung was arrested when the police raided his house.
